Wall Street declines amid rate hike worries

FXStreet (San Francisco) - Wall Street closed negative on the day as investors’ didn't digested well rate hike worries as Fed's Plosser said the central bank "may need to raise rates sooner rather than later."

The Dow dropped to 5-week lows while the Russell 2000 was 1.5% down on the day and to it accumulated losses of 9% since March.

The DJIA declined 137.55 points or 0.83% to finish at 16,374.31; the S&P 500 eased 12.25 points or 0.65% to 1,872.83; while the Nasdaq Composite lost 28.92 pts or 0.70% to close at 4,096.89.
