Westpac CEO: Boosting business confidence, not rate cut, key - Australian Associated Press

Boosting business confidence by lifting investment and wage growth would be a better salve for the economy that an interest rate cut, Westpac chief executive Brian Hartzer said on Monday after reporting a 22% fall in first-half profit.

Economists are increasingly confident the Reserve Bank of Australia will on Tuesday cut interest rates for the first time since August 2016.
