US: Annual core PCE price index ticks down to 1.8% vs 1.9% expected

The data published by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis today showed that the annual core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index decreased to 1.8% in January from 2% and missed the market expectation of 1.9%. With the initial market reaction, the US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, dropped to 97 area.
